Mindy Songer
“Hi, I’m Coach Songer! I’ve been in Sheridan for the majority of my life and I feel very lucky to live in such a great community. I work in Big Horn as a middle school science teacher and robotics coach in the fall.”
Volleyball Experience
• Coach Songer’s passion for volleyball started when she was in elementary school playing at the YMCA. “I played a variety of sports until high school when I decided my love for volleyball outweighed any other sport.”
• After high school, and still today, she looks for opportunities to play recreationally simply for the love of the game and the camaraderie that comes with it.
Why do I coach?
“I coach to share my passion for volleyball and to be a positive role model. I really enjoy working with kids and setting them up for success in life and on the court.”
What do I look forward to teaching my team?
“I look forward to building on my team’s strengths and creating a fun and competitive atmosphere together.”
Why the philosophy of coaching "person first, athlete second" is important to me:
“This philosophy is important to me because it emphasizes the importance of each person’s well-being before their athletic performance. I think it fosters a love for the sport and appreciation for those around you that goes beyond the season.”
Other Tidbits
“Outside of volleyball, my hobbies include reading, puzzles, yoga, lifting and baking.”
